AccessAbility Day is an Australian Government initiative that connects employers with jobseekers with disability to demonstrate their potential in their workplaces.
Following on from the success of last years’ event, Olympus Solutions is all set to participate in the AccessAbility Day government initiative again this year.
Martin Rowley, General Manager, at Olympus Solutions, is enthusiastic about the initiative again this year.
“We fully support the AccessAbility Day initiative. Last year, delivered fabulous connections between job seekers and employers. AccessAbility Day allowed us to promote our talented job seekers to local employers and develop relationships that led to ongoing employment and skill-building opportunities.” said Martin.
As part of AccessAbility Day 2018, Olympus Solutions engaged Jimmy G’s café in Tuggerah, to assist Alex, experience a day as a hospitality worker. Both Alex and the team thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
When asked about the value AccessAbility Day brought to the staff members of Jimmy G’s,
Marlon, Operations Manager at Jimmy G’s, stated, “It was a treasured experience. It helped the staff understand the importance of helping and teaching skills to other members of the community and people with disabilities and was rewarding for both the business and our employees.”
AccessAbility Day opened the doors for Alex to obtain a further six-week internship, which led employment with Jimmy G’s. A further 10 employment opportunities have arisen through a structured training program with eight of these participants gaining employment.
